Paranormal Romance

My current favorite genre. I discovered the world of paranormal romance a few years back during a camping trip to Payson. We were at the Walmart in Payson getting something we needed can't remember what exactly but I decided to check out their books and I stumbled upon Don't Talk Back to Your Vampire by Michelle Barsdley. I thought the cover was interesting and I've always been into Vampire fiction. I read the back of the book and it really caught my attention. Can their really be such a genre out there combining Action, Romance, Comedy, and the Supernatural? And the answer is Yes! I started reading it on our last day of the trip and I was immediately hooked. When I came back to Phoenix I found out this was the second of book of the Broken Heart, Oklahoma Series. Bardsley had 2 sequels in the works. At present there are currently five books in the series and I'm hoping for more to come. Here's a link to her site, michelebardsley.net. The first book in the series I'm the Vampire That's Why was also very good, here's the synopsis. "There's a new breed of soccer mom in town-with fangs. Does drinking blood make me a bad mother? That's the question single mom Jessica Matthews faces when she wakes from a savage attack sucking on the thigh of Patrick O'Halloran, a super-hot Irish vampire who'd generously offered his femoral artery to save her from death...only to make her one of the undead. Jessica can't rest until the beast that did this to her is caught. Meanwhile, she's having trouble committing to Patrick (in the vampire handbook, physical intimacy costs you several hundred years of being bound together) and keeping her kids in line."
I checked out Bookman's and found several other vampire book series. The second was the Undead series by Mary Janice Davidson. The first book in the series is Undead and Unwed here's the synopsis, "First Betsy Taylor loses her job, then she's killed in a car accident. But what really bites is that she can't seem to stay dead. And now her new friends have the ridiculous idea that Betsy is the prophesied vampire queen, and they want her help in overthrowing the most obnoxious power-hungry vampire in five centuries."
I really enjoy
ed the first book and have been collecting the rest of the series whenever I see them. The Broken Heart and Undead Series are just two of my favorites, there are many more authors which I enjoy and I'll post them at the end of this blog. Another series which I have yet to read is The Southern Vampire Series by Charlaine Harris. You'll know the first book Dead Until Dark if you've seen the HBO show True Blood. I really like the show and I've heard the books are even better. The second season is based off of the second book in the series Living Dead in Dallas, like any movie or show based off a book however there's always something they change so don't expect the show to be right on queue with the books. To give them credit though I think they did a pretty good job with the show and it is pretty popular. So if you're a fan of the Twilight book series or even just like the movie be sure to check out the Paranormal Romance section at your local bookstore and look for any of the author's I've listed below.
